Who We Are
WakeMed is a private, not-for-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, consisting of 14 members representing our community.
Led by President & CEO Donald R. Gintzig, the top priorities for the health system’s diverse and talented leadership team are ensuring patient safety; enhancing the patient and family experience; and delivering high-quality, high-value care that is both affordable and accessible to everyone who calls our community home.
WakeMed Hospitals
WakeMed has three acute care hospitals, a physical rehabilitation hospital and a mental health hospital for a total of 1003 beds. We also have four healthplexes with stand-alone, 24/7 emergency departments and a variety of outpatient services throughout the region.
Our physician practices are home to more than 350 physicians representing nearly every specialty, also with multiple geographically spread location.

Expanding to serve the growing Western Wake County Community, Cary Hospital added more than 100,000 square feet in two new floors, completed in mid-2021. Cary Hospital now has 208 acute beds.

WakeMed Rehabilitation Hospital

WakeMed Rehabilitation Hospital is a 103-bed, CARF accredited rehabilitation hospital serving the entire region. Some of the specialty programs offered for adults and children include:

No more waiting for a phone call or letter – view your results and your doctor’s comments within days. You may not permit any other person to access your WakeMed MyChart account using your username and password and the use of your account is your responsibility.
For First-time users: Click the “Sign Up” button above the User Login form. A signup screen will display. You can either register using the email address that you provided to the office or you can register by creating a username and entering a security code provided to you from the office.
- Go to the WakeMed MyChart login page.
- Enter your MyChart username and password in the spaces provided and
- Click Access MyChart.

The WakeMed MyChart app makes it easy to stay engaged with your care and offers access to health information for you and your family whenever you want it. Along with quick access to WakeMed MyChart.
The MyChart app for both Android and iOS allows patients to access their WakeMed MyChart account from a phone or tablet.
